University of Iowa CapEx Program Phase TG7 and TG8

This presentation will discuss the addition of two new steam turbine generators (15MW) to the University of Iowa's main power plant. The two generators are TG7, a 5 MW back-pressure unit, and TG8, a 10 MW tandem unit with a back-pressure and condensing side. TG8 is unique and set up to operate in its most efficient mode: back-pressure during normal operation. It can also operate in condensing mode for emergency backup power, utility curtailment, and during an electrical storm.
