Existing building commissioning process was implemented in three large hospitals to improve the operations of their HVAC systems, resulting in enhanced energy efficiency and maintained comfort levels, without requiring any investment in capital systems. The analysis of trends related to the AHU ON/OFF status, supply air temperature, economizer, outside air damper position, and supply air static pressure contributed to 51%, 31%, 8%, 5%, and 4% of the overall projected savings, respectively. By utilizing trend analysis in three case-study hospitals, measures were applied that estimated a reduction of 21%, 19% and 16% in their EUI, even though their average consumption was already below the 5th percentile of hospital consumption.
