Optimized Control of a Hybrid Variable Primary, Primary-Secondary Flow Chilled Water System

Real world operations and event mitigation results from an operating microgrid and campus utility control system recently installed at a 60-acre Critical Care Campus delivering steam, chilled water and electricity. The system was designed using IEC 61850 devices and logic to provide resiliency, redundancy to improve campus reliability. Discussion will present results from an actual utility event and how the campus microgrid and site control seamlessly rode through the event with zero impact on campus operations.
